HISTORY OF THE CHURCH IN ASIA:
A HISTORICAL SURVEY (3 units)
Fernando Guillen, SchP
Th 2:00 - 4:40 pm

Against the background of the universal Church History and the successive paradigms of Roman Primacy, the course intends to do, in a missionary perspective, a historical survey on the principal periods and forms of Christianity in Asia, from the Apostolic and Patristic times—the Asian Patriarchates—through the centuries of great Asian Empires—Arabic and Mongol—until the Discovering and Modern European presence—Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, English, and French. Special attention will be given to the present situation of local Church in Asian since the II World War and the Council Vatican II, wand the rise of Asian Theology.

Note: Non-Filipino students may take this course as substitute for Theo 275—Philippine Church History.
